Tasked to address the on-going gentrification within the Parkdale neighbourhood, our proposal attempts to encapsulate and enhance the cultural authenticity of the neighbourhood. Recognizing potential community spaces such as laneways, parking lots and parks. We created a kit-of-parts ranging from small scale introduction of gathering spaces to extending zoning envelopes, to large scale infrastructures of remediation of informal commerce. Relying on the Parkdale Neighbourhood Land Trust to decide the programs and uphold these activation spaces. These spaces become areas that can actively adjust to the changing urban fabric while upholding its cultural history.
